Περίληψη: Ο Luis Vaz de Camoes, ο σπουδαιότερος πορτογάλος Αναγεννησιακός ποιητής, έχει δημιουργικές δυσκολίες ενώ παραδίνετε σε ένα ηδονιστικό, κοπροφαγικό και θολωμένο με καταχρήσεις τρόπο ζωής. Η ταινία ακολουθεί τον ποιητή, και την ερωμένη του Dinamene, καθώς ο πρώτος συγγράφει το αριστούργημά του, το επικό ποίημα Os Lusiadas. Ταξιδεύει από την κακοφωνία των ινδικών ζούγκλων, περιβαλλόμενος από αλληγορικούς ελέφαντες και ομοιοκαταληκτούντες μακάκους, μέχρι τα σύνορα του Παράδεισου και της Κόλασης, όπου έρχεται αντιμέτωπος με τη φαντασίωση του: δόξα και αθανασία.

Synopsis: Luis Vaz de Camoes, the greatest Portuguese Renaissance poet, struggles creatively while engaging in a hedonistic, coprophagic, and drug-addled lifestyle. The film follows the poet, and his lover Dinamene, as he writes his masterpiece, the epic poem Os Lusiadas. He travels from the cacophony of the Indic jungles, surrounded by allegorical elephants and rhyming macaques, to the frontier of Heaven and Hell, where he is confronted by his fantasy: fame and immortality.
