Περίληψη:  Ο τίτλος IN THE OPEN είναι κυριολεκτικός, αφού η κάμερα γυρίζει στις λεπτομέρειες  ενός πενιχρού και παρθένου τοπίου, το οποίο χρησιμοποιείται ως επιφάνεια προβολής για την εξερεύνηση της κινηματογραφικής συσκευής, και την (απο)δόμηση του κινηματογραφικού τοπίου, χρόνου και κίνησης.  Ο άνθρωπος, ένα ξένο σώμα σε αυτό το χώρο, ψάχνει μια σχέση με το τοπίο και τη κάμερα.

Σημείωμα του σκηνοθέτη:

Το Im Freien (In the Open) είναι μια βουβή αναλογική ταινία-έργο, το οποίο στηρίζεται εξ’ ολοκλήρου στις εικόνες.  Οι ιδέες, δομές και κινήσεις της ταινίας οι οποίες παράγονται από την εργασία με και τη σκέψη για το φιλμ ως μέσο.  Συνεπώς, ο μόνος λογικός τρόπος παρακολούθησης της ταινίας είναι με την προβολή του φιλμ, το οποίο δυστυχώς δεν είναι (πλέον) δυνατόν σε αυτό το φεστιβάλ.

Summary: The title IN THE OPEN should be taken literally as the camera turns to details of a meagre and untouched landscape, which serves as projection surface for exploring the cinematic apparatus, and (de)constructing cinematic space, time, and movement.

The human, a foreign body in this place, seeks a relationship to the landscape and the camera.
Note from the director:

Im Freien (In the Open) is a silent analog film-work, which relies totally on its images. The ideas, structures and movements of the film are generated from working with and thinking about the medium film. Therefore the only reasonable way to see Im Freien (In the Open) is a film-projection, which regrettably is not (any more) possible in this festival.
